New York State and Communications Workers of America, Local 1104/ Graduate Student Employees Union Professional Development Program
Through the negotiations of the 2023-2026 Agreement between the State and Communications Workers of America, Local 1104/Graduate Student Employees Union (GSEU), labor-management funds are available to graduate assistants and teaching assistants represented by GSEU. Funding is available for job-related professional development projects and activities under Article 31 Professional Development Committee and for reimbursement of Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS) fees under Article 5.14.
Professional Development Program
The NYS/GSEU Professional Development Program is established under Article 30 Professional Development Committee of the 2023-2026 Agreement between New York State (State) and Communications Workers of America, Local 1104/Graduate Student Employees Union (GSEU). Funding is awarded to graduate assistants and teaching assistants represented by GSEU for eligible job-related projects or activities to acquire skills and knowledge to develop professionally.

SEVIS Fee Mitigation Program
New York State (State) and CWA Local 1104/Graduate Student Employees Union (GSEU) negotiated funds in the 2023-2026 Agreement for the cost of various fees incurred by graduate assistants and teaching assistants represented by GSEU under Article 5.13 Fee Mitigation Fund. The fee includes the Student and Exchange Visitor and Information Systems (SEVIS) fee which all visitors to the United States who are on student or exchange visas are required to pay the Department of Homeland Security the first time they apply for a visa.
