What's Getting Done
"What's Getting Done" is a monthly newsletter from the New York State Commission on National and Community Service. In this March 2024 issue we focus on recruitment as we gear up for AmeriCorps week, with resources for programs and individuals and a highlight on our rising star program the SUNY FAFSA Completion Corps.
What We Do
National and Community Service
The Commission's mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering in the state of New York. The Commission develops and implements a service plan every three years and manages grants and contracts for AmeriCorps programs which, throughout New York State, provide education, economic, environmental, health care, and disaster services.

Multi-State AmeriCorps Programs
Organizations that intend to operate an AmeriCorps program in more than one state or territory must apply directly to the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that administers AmeriCorps and other national service programs in the United States.
However, prior to submitting an application to CNCS, multi-state applicants must consult with the Commissions of the states in which they intend to operate. Multi-state organizations proposing to operate in New York State should consult with the New York State Commission by submitting the National Direct Consultation Form below.
